Clinical Practice Guidelines present statements of 'Best Practice' based on thorough evaluation of evidence. They define how a procedure is performed, or a condition managed. Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) allow some flexibility on the part of the clinician based on the specific patient they are caring for. CPGs should aid risk assessment, risk avoidance and ultimately risk management.RWH CPGs will aim to provide concise instructions on how best to manage health conditions, or brief the reader with a clinical problem and provide practical advice regarding assessment and management. |

The RWH Policy & Procedure Manual contains all current RWH Clinical & Non Clinical policies, procedures and guidelines.
| Policy - A statement of the rules or standards required by The Royal Women's Hospital of its staff on a particular issue, to assist in the good management of the hospital.
Process: The detailed process whereby the poliices of The Royal Women's Hospital are implemented in the operations of the hospital. Procedures specify "how to" implement the policies, and it is expected that they will be used, in order that the outcome and philosophy expressed in the policy is achieved. Guideline: Guidelines (in Policy & Procedure Manual rather than CPGs as above) guide staff in the management of specific issues or situations or circumstances within RWh but are not prescriptive. |
